The electric scooter project will be piloted in Dubai next week
An electric scooter project will be piloted in Dubai next week, road and Transport Authority (RTA) officials said on Monday.
Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Committee of Dubai, introduced the project to him during his visit to the new Al Ghubaiba bus station.
Five operators will be involved in the operation, RTA said.These include three international companies (Careem, Lime and Tier) and two local companies (Arnab and Skurrt) backed by Dubai's smes.
RTA will also begin testing scooters in five areas: Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard, Dubai Internet City, December 2 Street, Al Rigga and Lake Jumeir Tower.These areas were selected based on specific criteria such as population density, private development, availability of public transport services, integrated infrastructure and high security records.
