VOI has launched its new fleet of electric scooters in Cambridge
A fleet of 50 electric scooters has been launched in Cambridge today as part of a year-long trial.
To use it, you simply download the Voi app, which shows you exactly where each available scooter is in the city.
The new scooters, which will cost £1 to unlock, will cost £0.20 a minute between 6am and 8pm.It also offers a variety of subscription services, as well as discounted passes for students, key workers and low-income people.
After downloading the Voi app, I found it quick and easy to use, and then Scanned one of the scooters to unlock it.The first thing I noticed was the level of equipment on the scooter. They come equipped with bells, lights and suspension - and even their own license plate.
The handlebars are also coated with copper tape that kills the coronavirus to ensure that the virus does not spread between users.Electric scooters feel solid, which is reassuring as you speed along the road alongside cars, buses and cyclists.
