Turkey limits the use of electric scooters for young people under 15
Under a draft law submitted to the Turkish parliament by the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP), people must be at least 15 years old to drive electric scooters."Only riders ride on electric scooters every day, and no other passengers are allowed to enter," Milliyet wrote on the bill every day.People will be able to ride electric scooters in bike lanes and on city roads with a speed limit of less than 50km.Under the bill, municipalities would be responsible for arranging battery charging stations, tracks and lines for electric scooters.In return, the city will charge 2 cents a day for each electric scooter it rents.
With the introduction of the bill, municipalities will need to prepare for bike lanes in major public transport plans.
Regional municipalities will be able to open, operate and license parking and indoor parking facilities.Parking revenue will not be transferred to big cities.
