Priority Hockey has just launched the most affordable Electric Bicycles with the Gates belt drive
Priority Hockey has just launched their latest design for electric Bicycles-Priority Current. Current packs provide many high quality and low maintenance parts at a low price.
The priority current is supplied by an intermediate drive motor of nominal 500W.
However, the motors listed by the company have a torque of up to 140 Nm (103 LB-FT), which leads me to think that 500W power might be low.
Anyone can guess what the real power will be, but enough torque to say 140 Nm means the bike should have a certain amount of pull, providing fast acceleration and even leveling on the toughest hills.
The pedal-assisted bike has a top speed of 20 MPH (32 km/h), but offers the option to unlock it for up to 28 MPH (45 km/h). This will transform it from a L 1 to L 3 in the US electric bike category.
To please the belt drive fan, Priority provides the Gates belt drive system for Current. The use of belt drives means no greasy chains, no transmission noise, and little maintenance.
Priority Current replaces the old chain shifter and uses the internal gear hub of Enviolo with a gear ratio range of up to 380%.
With an integrated battery with a 500 Wh frame, Priority Current is rated at 30-60 miles range (50-100 km) depending on pedal assist level and cycling style.
Other bike design components include Tektro dual piston hydraulic disc brakes, composite fender, automatic front and rear LED lights, adjustable height stem, USB charger and digital display.
The bike comes in three sizes (S, M and L) and two colors (white or charcoal).
