Lime and Bird, electric scooter rental companies, have suspended service in European cities indefinitely.
Lime is reportedly doing the same across North America due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) drop in user Numbers.
As the public's self-isolation increases, demand for rental scooters has run into trouble to slow the spread of the virus.
On Monday night, Lime first started removing hardware from the streets of California and Washington. Then Italy, Spain and France did the same thing.
By Tuesday, Lime had removed its scooters from 18 other European countries (including Germany, Sweden and Denmark) and 19 U.S. states (including New York, Texas and Oregon).Operations in Canada and Tel Aviv have also been suspended.
Byrd decided this week to suspend services in 20 European markets.Neither Bird nor Lime said when they would resume operations.
The news comes in the same week that the UK announced it would push ahead with trials of electric scooters to see how best to regulate them on UK roads.
