EU electric bicycle output nearly doubled year-on-year
According to eBike Generation, the EU's electric bike production has almost doubled in 12 months and will further increase in the next five years.
According to Moreno Fioravanti, President of the European Bicycle Manufacturers Association (EBMA), production in 2017 was 13-1.4 million, and it will increase to 23-2.4 million in 2019. In the next five years, production should reach 7-8 million bicycles per year.
EBMA said that in addition, 1,000 electric bicycles produced in Europe are equivalent to creating four to five new job opportunities, and European production is also environmentally beneficial.
One representative said: “Every conventional or electric bicycle imported from China will generate an additional 91 to 123 kg of carbon dioxide emissions compared to local production.” “This means that if all annual sales of EU (electric) bicycles (per year (About 20 million vehicles) are imported from China, so carbon dioxide emissions will increase by about 2 million tons."
