US recalls Chinese-made Mercane WideWheel electric scooter
On October 4, 2019, the US Consumer Safety Commission (CPSC) announced a recall of Chinese-made electric scooters.
The recalled product is the electric scooter of the Mercane WideWheel. The product is foldable, grey aluminum, wheels four inches wide, has a 500W motor and an 8.8Ah battery, or two 500W motors and a 13.2Ah battery. WideWheel and Mercane are printed on the scooter's flat.
The brakes of this product may malfunction, causing the rider to lose control and risk of falling and injury.
The recalled products were sold online from Amazon in October 2018 to September 2019, and sold for 1,000 to 1200 US dollars. The number of recalled products was 1,800.
Up to now, 15 reports of brake failure and 4 injuries have been reported, resulting in bloody knees, bruises on the lower back and sprained ankles.
CPSC advises consumers to stop using the product immediately and contact Fit for Life for a refund or free replacement.
